at Sword Spectacular 2008
St Martin in Sulmtal, from Austria, appearing the Sword Spectacular 2008 in York. The sword dance in the area around St Martin was performed by miners, as only they had the privilege of carrying swords, to use as protection in the remote ore mines. The team is dressed in local miners' uniforms and their flag shows picks as the icon of the miners. Click on a picture to see an enlargement.
